Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:


1. Manage library collections, including cataloging, classifying, and shelving books, periodicals, multimedia materials, and other resources.
2. Assist patrons in locating and accessing library materials, providing reference and research assistance as needed.
3. Develop and implement library programs and services to meet the needs and interests of patrons of all ages.
4. Promote library resources and services through outreach activities, presentations, and social media engagement.
5. Maintain library records and databases, including circulation transactions, patron registrations, and overdue notices.
6. Provide instruction and support to patrons in using library technology and online resources.
7. Plan and conduct library tours, orientations, and workshops for individuals and groups.

Requirements:

1. Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
2. Previous experience working in a library or information center is preferred but not required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
3. Knowledge of library cataloging and classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal Classification, Library of Congress Classification).
4. Familiarity with library automation systems and integrated library management software (ILS/ILMS).
5. Strong customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with patrons of all ages and backgrounds.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
