Customs Clerk

Currently, we are looking for a passionate and energetic Customs Clerk to be based in the Contract Logistics Team. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure that all customs clearance processes for inbound operations run efficiently and that effective clearance & delivery support is provided to the department thereby enabling the achievement of service standards and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive pre-alerts and documents from destination for customs clearance of sea shipments , open files in Logis and liaise with customers / destination offices for resolution of discrepancies in documents.
• In case of non availability of original documents arrange for deposit amounts, clear shipment clearances without original documents and maintain a record of the same for timely refunds.
• Liaise with the shipping lines for ETAs, arrange for DO collection, process the FZ bill of entry on line and arrange submission of documents at customs within 72 hours.
• Forward the BOE to the transporters for the delivery of containers at MEDC, maintain a copy of all documents received, close all files in the system and forward the same to accounts for billing. Update the container in port report on a daily basis and send schedule of containers to be pulled to MEDC to the transporter.
• Liaise with platforms for invoices (in case of non availability of invoice) on all air imports and document discrepancies for timely clearances at DCV. On receipt of the shipment at MEDC, make a record of the shipment in the air log file and file the hard copy of the b/e and other documents in the record room.
• Send timely and accurate pre-alerts to destinations for all large stock outbound orders. Adhere to requirements as specified by DHL and GM, prepare and provide necessary reports as indicated by the Management thereby achieving company and customer specified KPIs.
• Process the requests for SASO certifications and follow up for receipt and hand over the same to out bound customs clerk for clearances with other documents.
• Receive vouchers on daily expenses incurred towards clearance activities, check for appropriate approvals, prepare accurate statements of expenses, attach supporting documents and forward the same to HO for reimbursements.

Job Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• 2 years experience in customs clearance operations
• High School (Graduate preferred)
• Computer Literate
